Lie Back, Look Up is a website dedicated to inspiring families to spend time together stargazing. We have posts on current astronomical events, activities to do as a family, and explanations of basic astronomy concepts. The What’s Up in the Sky This Season page is updated at the beginning of each season, and includes two seasonal stargazing maps– one for adults and one for children. If you are new to stargazing, check out Stargazing Basics for an introduction to night sky viewing. The focus here at Lie Back, Look Up is stargazing as a family; if this is new to you, explore Stargazing with Kids for tips and resources to make stargazing fun for your family.

My name is Jenna Francis, and I write all of the content for Lie Back, Look Up. I am a middle school astronomy teacher and planetarium director for the Upton Planetarium in St. Joseph, Michigan. My passion for astronomy has developed over the years– through my education, career and family. I live in St. Joseph with my husband and three children, and as a family we work together to develop a sense of awe and wonder about astronomy and the natural world.
